A bund is a secondary containment system for a storage vessel. When storing hazardous materials, vessels should be stored on or within an appropriate secondary containment system.
In the UK and Ireland, the certified bund should contain 110% of the largest vessel being stored or 25% of the total volume, whichever is greater.
For example, if you are storing four 200 litre drums of methanol, the bund would require a minimum capacity of 220 litres under the 110% rule.
